FAQs
You've got questions. I have some answers.
Are sessions in person or online?
Therapy can be done in person (in the Jacksonville, NC office) or online. Sessions online are available for anyone in North Carolina. Many people prefer to meet online from the comfort of their own home. I do offer nature therapy (walk and talk) sessions depending on theraputic needs and weather permitting.
What are your hours?
I offer therapy services Monday through Thursday 10 am - 4 pm and Sundays 11 am - 2 pm.
How often do we meet?
How often we meet depends on the presenting problem and needs of the client. Most clients start out weekly, move to bi-weekly over time, and then to monthly, until they are ready to stop therapy services. This is a personal decision and one we can discuss in session as your needs and/or circumstances change.
Many factors impact your length in therapy. We live in a fast-paced society, and we are often seeking a quick fix. Depending on the symptoms and severity, it may take 3 months or it may be 3 years to unravel the trauma you experienced. We understand that most people may not stay in therapy for years due to finances and life happening. In addition, individuals using insurance may only have a set number of sessions. That is why it is essential to talk about your needs and expectations for therapy. Many people start off coming weekly for a little while, then transition to bi-weekly, and eventually on a once-monthly basis. However, most importantly, it is ultimately your decision to stop therapy when you feel ready.
How will I know if we are a good fit?
The most important thing is that you are finding the support you need. We offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to determine if the therapist and you are a good fit for each other. If you feel that it may not be a good fit, we will help you find a therapist that may be better suited.
How much does it cost?
$130 for an individual 53 minute session
$150 for a couple's 53 minute session
Please see Fees and Policies to learn more.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I do accept some insurances. Check my fees and policies page for more information on that.
If I am not in-network with your insurance company, I am happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork (superbill / receipt) for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement for a portion of the session fee.
Please know that not all insurance plans offer reimbursement for out-of-network providers and some plans may have a deductible or an allowable amount. I recommend calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and speak to a representative for details about your specific plan.
Do you prescribe medication?
We are not medication prescribers (i.e., psychiatrist, primary care physician). We are also not against medication. If you are interested, your therapist can explore the pros and cons of medication with you. However, we would never push our values onto you, and we will support your decision.
How do I get started with therapy?
Fill out the New Client Info Form where you can schedule a consultation. At the consultation, you can share with me a little bit about what’s going on and what you are hoping to experience in therapy. I would love to share about how I can help you heal and live a life full of meaning and joy.
